71st Highlanders
Having plenty of Highland figs. some in kilts others in trousers it was time to paint some more. I had thought of doing the 42nd in kilts but then went for another battalion of the 71st. From research there were three battalions of the 71st raised during the war and all three were brigaded together under Leslie at Brandywine. To differentiate between this new battalion, the 1/71st, from the others I painted the colour party in kilts. Anyway here they are with the 2/71st and 3/71st behind. I am still looking for how the third was distinguished on thier colours, I know the 2/71st has the "wave" but what about the 3/71st?

I will try to do an enlarged photo tonight. I only did the third because I had the figures otherwise....

Thanks for the enlargement. They look very nice. I'd love to make up the second battalion of mine but just don't have the figures as I'm using 15mm Polly Oliver and am running out! Expecially as seeing in the early Southern Campaigns the units were rather on the large side for the 71st!
Where did you get your flags?
Andy
As for the rest of the unit, they started off as a Southern unit that is why they are wearing white trousers rather than tartan trews or kilts. I cant remember the source but it mentioned them in white a Camden. Other figures I have seen have them in a variety of colours.

AWRG rules are the Australian version of the WRG Horse and Musket rules that were originally published in 1979. You can find them at the forum in my links section. You need to join the forum to download the rules, but they are free.

I've never found an answer to the question of what distinguishing mark the third battalion's flag had.
